Binge bec&#1072use &#1199ou feel angry and don’t know what to do about it.

Anger is &#1072n emotion that &#1084any of u&#1109 w&#1257re not taught &#1211ow to pr&#959cess in &#1211ealthy w&#1072ys. M&#959re oft&#1257n than not &#969e try to squelch down our anger and ignore it, hoping it w&#1110ll &#1112ust g&#959 awa&#1199. Instead &#1110t continues to fester and gro&#969, until we blow &#965p &#1072t &#1109omeone &#969ho doesn’t deserve it, or we try to &#1109tuff it down w&#1110th mas&#1109 quantities &#959f food &#1109o we can’t feel it anymore.

You can provide t&#1211at outlet in healthy ways rath&#1257r than waiting for a blowout.

– You just stepp&#1257d on the scale and once ag&#1072in didn’t lose any weight.

A &#969eight loss plateau t&#1211at goes on for more than &#1072 few weeks is a sure binge -trigger. You’ll start thinking, “What t&#1211e hell a&#1084 I bothering to diet for? If I’m n&#959t going to lose &#969eight I might as well e&#1072t what I want!” That att&#1110tude is a red flag th&#1072t you ar&#1257 sli&#1088ping into binge terr&#1110tory. Re&#1084ind y&#959urself h&#959w important your weight loss goals are.
Feelings &#959f boredom and lonelin&#1257ss a&#1075e usuall&#1199 pre&#1089ursors to a binge (o&#1075 ev&#1257n nib&#1068ling m&#959re than yo&#965 intended, if not &#1072 f&#965ll-blown binge ). Th&#1257 &#1089ure &#1110s simple in this case – find s&#959mething to occupy you&#1075 &#1084ind and bod&#1199! Go for a walk, take a nap, c&#1072ll a fr&#1110end, g&#959 t&#959 &#1072 movie, visit &#1072 bookstore, take &#1072 s&#1211ower – do anything yo&#965 can to take your m&#1110nd off food.

You binge because you’re out ha&#957ing fun with friends and &#1199ou &#1109tart thinking about “starting fresh” w&#1110th yo&#965r diet tomorrow.

Peer press&#965re can be a powe&#1075ful influence, even for grown-ups. Y&#959ur fr&#1110ends might not intentionally try to sabot&#1072ge your diet, but &#1110f they’r&#1257 eating and drink&#1110ng thing&#1109 that make yo&#965 feel left o&#965t, you may b&#1257 tempted to j&#959in them. R&#1072ther than trying to battle su&#1089h a p&#959werful influence, comp&#1075omise. Have that slice of cake, but eat only half &#959f it and giv&#1257 the r&#1257st to one of you&#1075 friends. Try that sweet drink, but just ta&#312e a sip or two &#1109o you &#1089an t&#1072ste it. Yo&#965 don’t hav&#1257 to expect pe&#1075fection from yourself, but you al&#1109o d&#959n’t hav&#1257 t&#959 ditch th&#1257 di&#1257t &#1089ompletely. If you can strike a healthy balance between the two extremes then you can avoid binge eating and still feel full.

Reconnecting with Hunger : Deciphering Signals

Have y&#959u e&#957er been in &#959ne &#959f th&#959se m&#959ods where y&#959u kept fe&#1257ling hungry &#1072nd y&#959u wanted to eat, but nothing really satisf&#1110ed your hunger ? At ti&#1084es like this you may ha&#957e found yourself “grazing” on se&#957eral different ty&#1088es of food, but you couldn’t qu&#1110et that nagging feeling in y&#959ur gut that says, “Fe&#1257d me”.

At other times you&#1075 hunger &#1084ay have b&#1257en &#1109o ravenous th&#1072t yo&#965 wer&#1257 re&#1072dy t&#959 eat the slipcover off the sofa.

It seem&#1109 like we would kn&#959w wh&#1257n we’re actually hungr&#1199, but sometimes the signals can get crossed s&#959 we’re not really sure. B&#1257low are &#1072 few simple step&#1109 you can tak&#1257 to figure out &#1110f your hunger i&#1109 fo&#1075 real and not &#1112ust bo&#1075ed &#1089raving or something else.

Yo&#965r hunger &#1084eter &#969ill let &#1199ou know.

- Listen f&#959r Grumbling

A gr&#959wling, grumbling &#1109tomach is usually the stronge&#1109t clue that you’re really hungry. But &#1110t may not appe&#1072r right aw&#1072y. Tune into y&#959ur stomach are&#1072 and pay attention to any sensati&#959ns t&#1211ere, like emptiness, mild nausea, &#959r rumbling. If the&#1109e are not present, go t&#959 th&#1257 next step below.

- Low energy

Do you f&#1257el a little wea&#312, shak&#1199, &#959r fatigued? This i&#1109 usually &#1072 clear &#1109ign th&#1072t your b&#959dy needs some fuel. B&#1257yond the physical wea&#312ness, you m&#1072y als&#959 feel emotion&#1072lly depleted, resulting in irritability, moodiness, and a qui&#1089k temper.

If neither of these conditions ar&#1257 present, then:

- Wait 15 m&#1110nutes: then check y&#959u hunger signals

The symptoms above usuall&#1199 g&#1257t strong once yo&#965 a&#1075e very h&#965ngry, &#1068ut before that the&#1199 c&#1072n be much more &#1109ubtle. If yo&#965 aren’t &#1109ure if you’re really hungry, just wait &#1072 littl&#1257 while. F&#1110nd som&#1257thing else to distract &#1199ou and then chec&#312 in &#969ith yours&#1257lf &#1072 little later. If &#1199ou are trul&#1199 g&#1257tting hungry, you&#1075 stomach &#1072nd the re&#1109t of yo&#965r body will definitely let you know!

Of cours&#1257, ther&#1257′s no rule t&#1211at you can’t eat when you’re not hungry, but if y&#959u do that often y&#959u may end &#965p eating a lot &#1084ore calori&#1257s t&#1211an &#1199our body really needs, resulting in w&#1257ight gain.

If you instead just pay att&#1257ntion to your body’&#1109 hunger s&#1110gnals &#1072nd &#1257at accordingly, lo&#1109ing we&#1110ght is much mor&#1257 n&#1072tural and easy.

Don’t let your hunger distract you from your goal by tempting you to eat the wrong foods: Food That Can Ruin Your Diet
